Community Impact
The NCC has the unique opportunity to be both a connecting and growth point for cycling in the Winston-Salem and surrounding area. The NCC will serve as a resource for local cycling clubs, providing meeting space as well as a place for rides and the general camaraderie associated with the sport.
The NCC will also serve as an advocate for cycling-related matters in the community, bringing ideas and influence to city and state government, supporting city planning and cycling-related safety concerns.
Economic Impact
The city of Winston-Salem stands to realize the synergistic economic impact of the NCC and the cycling-related racing activity already taking place within and around the city.
As the site of the Winston-Salem Cycling Classic (now a 1.1 UCI categorized professional race), as well as the 2016 and 2017 US Professional and Masters National Championships, these assets bring the city tremendous national notoriety and tourism dollars from an audience with high levels of discretionary spending.
The increasing cultural impact of the sport enhances the city’s healthy and outdoors lifestyle and leverages Winston-Salem’s respected and growing healthcare and research infrastructure. And with a location in the heart of the revitalized downtown area, the NCC will provide a new destination for vibrant activity.
